Stargate Universe S01E04 Darkness HDTV XviD-FQM

i haven,t seen episode 4 yet , but from some comments it seems to be still trying to get across
the "starting line" maybe the writers are trying to familiarise us with the characters and surroundings
before they get to the good stuff. there's 2.maybe3 more episodes left in me before i cut this series
loose forever . then i look back at b.s.g and the way it fell apart towards the end after what was the
most exciting first series of "sci-fi tv" i had seen in years!! so i hope this doesn.t get any worse (then
again how can it) ......fingers crossed&live in hope

it's their new aproach. .... they start with filler episofes, than recycle some of the mtv's real world
episodes and there you go !!!

so far it's like someone tried to breed stargate with a soap opera, not real well either, some of the
dramatic dialogue scenes have been the worst acted i have ever seen, or maybe worst written, either
way they just are not working so far.

and yes, ship is heading towards a sun, a ship shown to be intelligent enough to find them a planet with
material to fix the air, it's beyond obvious what is happening, your just left waiting for the dramatic
details.

on the up side at least it's more stargate back on tv, so i'll keep watching, although so far i'd rather
be watching either of the previous series...

one of the bigger problems, in my opinion, is that the cast isn't all that great. lame acting and not one
person like o'neill or sheppard.

agreed, but that is also what sga was missing, because sheppard was ok, but, didn't bring any
history with him, sga and sgu for that matter needs a well known tv star to make it work, someone of
, say , mark harmon's calibre, to do for it, what macguyver did for sg1

plus, when they gunna blow something up 😉

i didn't mind sheppard, sure he wasn't o'neill, but he had his own thing going.

as far as the new cast goes, i'm not really feeling the need to remember their names, anyone the same?
and especially if every episode is going to end on a mini cliffhanger, i've already got 24 for that 😛

i'm tempted not to watch anymore until i know it's been given a second season.

well, robert carlyle and lou diamond phillips are both fine talent, but so far robert has been getting
some truly awful dialogue, with no one of any real/developed talent to play off, and lou left on earth
seems a stupid under use of someone who would have been a far better full crew member.

solar power? photovoltaic cells? puhleese, the ancients are supposedly way beyond that technology.
they would be impractical since there are millions of light years between suns. the ship in fact can
create a wormhole and travel through it, now that requires much more power than solar or
photovoltaic cells can possibly provide. i'll bet zpms are powering the ship. how else can it escape
the gravitational pull of a dwarf star unless sufficient and abundant power can be generated from
within the ship! maybe, just maybe, things will get more interesting when they start to learn how to
control the ship and continue the purpose for which it was built. then again, in sga, the series
ended and they still did not have full control of the platform. so.... i suppose all we can do is
speculate what's next, each in our own area of ineterest. for all we know the writers are reading us
out to get clues as to where they will lead us into the next episodes of the season.

with any luck later in the season they will find a way to send more people equipment etc... and ldp
will join them instead of sitting in that damn chair all the time.

don't forget this ship is supposed to pre-date a lot of 'known' ancient tech, so my guess is no zpm etc
on this ship, it's likely the ship was/is designed to re-fuel somehow during it's trip, rather than use some
fixed power source, which would most likely run out at some point, in a ship that is supposed to just
keep going forever.

in fact when i saw the ship was going to slingshot around the gas giant, i suspected 'that' may have
been it's refueling process, but now it's heading towards the sun, so who knows what mock sci-fi
process they will end up using, but any way you look at it, something is obviously happing.

cast wise i'm not sure how they will make changes, the idea is supposed to be they are cut off, end of
story, but you have to think that ain't going to work out long term, with some *cough* lame cast
choices.

although overall, am i the only one to think/wonder where the original plot premise went?, early
reading had the ship 'being' a gate seeding ship (and now it's just not), in fact what the heck 'is' the
ship doing?, it's err following the other seeding ships?.
likewise original reading said they were going to be totally cut off from earth, now well they have full
contact with earth, in fact we have sections of episode with crew having bleeding hart moments with
family members back home, that is going to get old fast, and it takes away from the whole 'cut off'
premise which is not ringing true.

are you dense? the whole episode they've been going on about how they're running out of power, and
you think the ship is going to pull them from the sun's gravity? not before refeuling somehow, and
that's when the solar power comes in. although i do agree that the ancients are past that tech even
if the ship pre-dates any ancient tech we've seen to date. they have faster than light travel, but
not through hyper space (i belive this was mentioned in episode 1).

solar panels could be used. solar panels in ancient tech would probably produce more power way more
effieciently than what you're thinking of. the goal of the ship is to seed other planet's right? why
not slap some solar panels onto the hull, so that it can soak up every bit of energy it can while
it's in a solar system?

it's obvious though that it probably won't be solar panels that will save them though (although they
wouldn't hurt). i'm thinking something more along the lines of a scoop of some sort.



i agree. in that sense they seem to have it even easier than the atlantis crew.

i was thinking more of earth finding another way/planet to dial in from to send reinforcements, one
way only, and solve the lame cast members with a nice planetside death or something.

maybe they can introduce a new cast member and just say he's been aboard all this time. lost did it all
the time (although they did it one or two times too many...)

they should intoduce a frozen ancient, wich is retarded from all the freezing and runs around wearing
nothing but anchovies
earings and talks like yoda.
speaking of earings, is nice that the beauty of a doctor that they have wears earings and pink lipstick
while in uniform, not to mention all the thirst, hunger and lack of oxigen..... oh wait is sci-fi

in stargate new characters usually show up as aliens. they'll find a planet with some humans on it,
save them from something, one alien either is so thankful or just has nowhere else to go, so he
decides to join the team. presto chango! new cast member. death and/or imprisonment by the ememy can
get rid of a member already there.

in this case though the aliens will probably help them solve a few of their current problems.

sadly, this is the first season of stargate that i won't be impatiently waiting all week for.
