"the prisoner is a 2009 television miniseries based on the 1960s tv series the prisoner. it is produced by american cable
network amc in co-operation with british channel itv."
if you are wondering about the original tv series (ibid.):
"the prisoner is a 17-episode british television series broadcast in the uk from 29 september 1967 to 1 february
1968.[1][2] starring and co-created by patrick mcgoohan, it combined spy fiction with elements of science fiction, allegory,
and psychological drama.
the series follows a british former secret agent who is held prisoner in a mysterious seaside village where his captors try to
find out why he abruptly resigned from his job. although sold as a thriller in the mould of mcgoohan's previous series,
danger man (called secret agent in its u.s. release), the show's combination of 1960s countercultural themes and surreal
setting had a far-reaching effect on science fiction/fantasy programming, and on popular culture in general."
an amazing show (the original, i haven't watched the remake).
i have been waiting for a remake for some years now. i am very excited to see this series. i am
downloading the first episodes now.
thanks for seeding. and please stay on after you leech and seed the program back.
p.s. if anyone was an iron maiden fan. they did a song called the prisoner and it was based on the
1960's show.
wow wrecche where you drunk when you wrote that? i can't understand a single thought.
anyway, to comment on the show:
i'm interested so far and loved that they had the giant white globes that were so laughable in the
original, "oh no a giant inflatable balloon is attacking me, i wish i had a pair of keys in my
pocket to pop it, oh wait i do!" these giant white globes are cgi so are much more frightening... as
far as giant white globes go. i still got a laugh out of them.
i also like how they've changed it up a bit from the original. in the original you immediately knew
what the village was and why #6 was there. it might be the same reason in this one but they're
adding suspense and making me doubt; which is good.
though there are a bunch of silly plot devices anyone with half a brain would ask if they were in
the same situation as #6 for instance, "what do you call this? a bed. and this? a chair. so objects have
names but people don't?" and, "where are these cars and other goods manufactured? there are no
factories." but most of all, "if we are all from here originally and there is no other place why do
some people speak with a different accent?" that's just lazy plot design. in the original it wasn't
a problem because the village wasn't a mystery but they are tying to lost-ify this show but
without thinking things out like the writer-producers of "lost" do.
so, i give this show a 3 out of 5 so far. enough to keep watching but if it doesn't pick up the
level of writing i'm out of here.
watched all 6 episodes now and loved it! yes it is a bit confusing at times, and yes there are questions left
unanswered (like how do they control the people who work at the clinic, what happens to the people in the
tunnels in the real world, etc.) i think they have done this a) for suspense while watching and b) so that
they can expand on it in a future "the prisoner? 2010" here's hoping 😛
anyway, very interesting ideas and thoughts. i don't want to give too much away, because if you haven't
seen it yet but are thinking about it, it's well worth the time! it takes a lot of thinking but its rather fun
letting your mind question everything...
9 out of 10 for me! (would've been 10 if the last episode had been a 2 hour special where they tied up
more loose ends)
