i dont get it...why put "2005" in the title for a show that is new '2010'
just because steven moffat thinks he's oh so clever by calling this "series 1" doesn't change the
fact that it's still the same show that began in 2005.
it's to indicate that this is the new doctor who. the show originally started in the
seventies, it
stopped for a while, then started again in 2005.
not to be too picky, but doctor who actually started on 23rd of november 1963 @ 5:15pm. (it was
meant to of been on the 22nd of november 1963 but was interrupted by the breaking news of the
assassination of john f kennedy. just a interesting fact of televisual history.
thank you very much for making me able to see the latest episodes this early, i know know that i like the new doctor and
will continue to buy the bds...
this episode was good, not as spectacular as last week's new season kick off episode, but some good stuff in it and i
certainly have to brush up my scottish a wee bit - alright! ;-)

nice little easter egg in s01e01 at the 20 minute mark, dr. who is attending kennedy's parade in which he's
assassinated in a photograph
i don't much care for the distinction personally. new who is a continuation of old who, and should be
labeled as such. as far as i'm concerned, this is series 31.
i was thinking instead of dw 2005 maybe 'dw 21 century' would have been encompassing.
i decided i don't care for how the brits refer to all their shows as "series" 1,2,3,4 etc.
to indicate what use to be called a "season". they use to do it that way - the way we still do:
season 1 ,2 ,3 and so forth. and where series finale still means the end of the show.
the old doctor who is still referred to as "seasons"; and so are some older british shows.
the second episode of the seven part serial "the daleks", "the survivors", was taped on
22 november 1963. minutes before taping started, the cast and crew learned of the
assassination of john f. kennedy but it was decided to continue with the shooting.
after much discussion it was decided that the british people needed a break from all the
assassination news. so the next day, the very first episode of doctor who, " an unearthly child"
was broadcast. most of this - the first serial- was taped in october of that year (1963).
season 1:
serial one: an unearthly child (4 parts)
part 1 an unearthly child - transmitted the day after jfk's death
part 2 the cave of skulls
part 3 the forest of fear
part 4 the firemaker
serial two: the daleks (7 parts)
part 1 the dead planet
part 2 the survivors - this is the one that the cast was taping when news
of jfk came
parts 3 to 7....
