"in this abc drama pilot a small town is set on edge by a murder-its first crime in seven years. the
focus is on the town's new sheriff deputy tommy conroy. while a mysterious new woman tries to
uncover her families secret in happy town ." (quoted from a tv info site i'm no longer very fond of so
no credit for them! 😛)
personally, it looks sucky.
i saw a clip, wouldn't waste my time.
jmho!
everybody loves a good mystry. everybody loves supernatural beings. everybody loves a good story.
this show has all of them. i watched it and it seems promising. the only problem is because it has such
a big cast, the cost will be way high. so if the show does not produce good result soon, it will be done
very fast and abc will replace it with another dumb stupid reality show. so people, please support a
good show like this one.
although i've yet to watch harper's island, i've heard nothing but good things about it.
still, as i watched happy town, all i could think was, "twin peaks lite." nevertheless, i like it so far. it's a little rough, but
hopefully they'll be able to work the kinks out if given time to do so. there's a void that desperately needs shows like this to
fill, so i'm all for giving it a chance. people who like mundane (doctors, lawyers, cops, et al.) and/or reality shows have
more than enough to choose from. scifi has a small offering, fantasy virtually nil. but shows of this nature are few and far
between, so for those of us that like and desire this sort of material, we've really gotta grab it where it can be found and
hang on for dear life. 🙂
and i don't even count supernatural anymore. that one started out good, but got buried under a, quite simply, dreadful
subplot that's taken over the show. i loved it when it was basically "route 666," with two guys driving across the country
fighting monsters ala kolchak, but once it became the evil angels vs. evil demons variety hour, with each script being
written by people who apparently haven't ever even cracked open a bible for reference, it got ridiculous and boring really
quickly. on the bright side, the creator of supernatural (who pretty much has said the same thing about the angels/demons
subplot himself) has said that it all ends at the end of this season, and next season will get back to "normal." (he's stepping
down as bigwig on the show, but will still be around to lend a hand here and there.)
i didn't see any definite supernatural elements in the show. bsmkchan may be right, but so far
everything that's happened is possible without any sort of paranormal goings on. i kind of hope
he's wrong because there've been too many 'magical mysteries' on tv lately for my taste.
