download vlc player it has all the codecs that you need. otherwise you'll need to download ac3, which is
a group of codecs that make audio/visual work with avi files.

does anyone know when season 2 will air? next fall you guess?

@janshane - there is no episode 23 on the first season.
and wikipedia says:

"on february 16, 2010, the cw announced that it was going to renew the vampire diaries for a second season. it has been
set to return in september 2010."
