is this the last season's episode? when does the next season start?

i hope it's not the last episode, it didn't feel like season ending at least that just what i felt.

how can you guys not see it? red john is the creepy sweaty crime scene investigator who talks with
jane and who quietly calls jane a jerk.. he also was in the very first episode of the mentalist, in
which he quite enthusiastically explains to jane and the others how red john painted his signature
smiley face on the wall, causing jane to say that he enjoys his job way too much.. his voice is
exactly like red john's, and he appeared in the first episode and now suddenly in this one where red
john is actually seen. it can't be coincidence.
