hmmm, minor conundrum time...

should it be written five-o (as in the letter o), as the title is prounounced, or five-0 (the number zero)
which we then pronounce as an \"o\"?

this time centering around mcgarrett's son chris, who succeeded his late father as the head of the
unit. ed bernero, executive producer and showrunner of criminal minds, was to helm the new take,
which he described as "hawaii five-o, version 2.0". it was also to incorporate most of the iconic
elements from the original, including the "book 'em, danno" catchphrase, into the remake. bernero,
who was a fan of the original, and had a ring tone of the series' theme song on his cell phone, had
always wanted to bring the series back to tv.[2] this version did not go beyond the script stage.

then, in october 2009, it was revealed that alex kurtzman and roberto orci had signed on to script a
pilot episode, and peter m. lenkov will serve as the series showrunner.[3] kurtzman and orci decided
to reboot the original concept similar to their work on the 2009 star trek film, rather than a
sequel to the original series. production on the pilot was shot in and around honolulu from february
to april 2010.

on may 17, 2010, the hawaii five-o remake was picked up by cbs, which scheduled it for monday nights
in the 10

hey, that was a lot better than i expected - it's an action cop show with beautiful scenery.

it shows a lot of nice places so i'm willing to bet that the state of hawaii is helping out with
some money. there are plenty of callbacks to the original series, which is nice but doesn't
alienate the not-so-serious fan of the original show (like me).

as for the story itself, this was the pilot so i'm not sure they'll keep the same frantic pace for
the rest of the season, but i think it might grow on you. it lacks the "love at first sight" that i
had with burn notice (a similar show, story wise but on a much tighter budget) but the familiarity
of the show and the scenery make up for it, at least in this episode.

i liked the casting, they seemed to work well together and the partner relationship, while very
cliche, was fun. also, as i must mention this, grace park as not-boomer is nice to see and we're
gonna get to see a lot of her.

what i disliked intensely was the 'carte blanche' that the task force is given, it's too easy to
have a story like that so i guess the premise of the show is rushed and sloppy.

i have a feeling that it'll turn into an action show with police-like elements. it's a little
different than the other shows i watch, mostly that it's in hawaii, so i'll follow it for now. i
don't know if it'll hold ratings but i hope it does.

btw, the opening wasn't as good as the original's. the theme was redone so it's right now, not that
guitar trash that was released a while back on youtube. it was good enough for the modern, very
short, intros of today, i especially loved the allusions to the original series' opening.

i liked her on the border ... and if she is on board with five-0, i will definitely give it a try.

but since i have been severely addicted to the shield and the wire, any cop show will have a
difficult time impressing me ... but i will try to keep an open mind.

this was actually better than i expected due to the action sequences, but c'mon- the heroes diving into
firefights waving their pistols against baddies with automatic weapons? this series might be pretty good if
they can tune it up and make it a little more realistic.

on may 19, 2010, cbs announced that a new reimagined version of hawaii five-o, this one set in present-day hawaii and
called hawaii five-0 with the last character a zero instead of a capital letter, will join the network's 2010

i was expecting a low budget attempt at copying the original and just running of the name , but i
was pleasently suprised.

i've now seen 7 minutes and 8 seconds of this, and if the remaining minutes are as good i'll be well
pleased, it's different enough from the original to work, but inline with it with the titles and
music, so far i love it and it's gives me the same sniff as shows like ncis, dexter, sons of anarchy,
lie to me do, i.e i have to watch them asap ratherthan block them up and have a session.

is it just me, or did the opening theme seem just a little too short? it cut off the rising horn sequence
and drum roll finish, which was really a good part of the original version.

it was pretty good and, whilst i did appreciate what we got to see of grace park, i hope they don't go
too overboard (i.e. blatantly obvious) in coming up with reasons to get her stripping off each week.

it's a work in progress, but considering it's the pilot the characters def made an impression. good
acting, good direction, writing lukewarm. i predict this show will make it and will be renewed
before the end of the season. finally, a young cast with real charisma, thank you. the premise for
the formation of this task force is silly, but what the hey.

if they keep this action packed then it should be getting more seasons.b i want to to see the rest
of the episodes before i make any conclusions.
