Outcasts 1x01 (HDTV-FoV)

well i liked it, nothing great but lets hope it gets better 🙂

im a big sci-fi geek anyway so its nice, reminds me a bit of battlestar gallactica..but without the stupidness of that series 🙂
and its more "plausible" not that bsg was meant to be plausible lol

some actually useful information for those wondering what this is....

set in 2040 on a recently-discovered planet, this drama tells of the dilemmas, loves and lives of a group of
people setting up a new world. this life-sustaining planet is now home to the surviving population from
earth. here there is a chance to start again, to bring the lessons learned from earth and to put them into
action on a new planet. the series begins on the day the last known transporter from earth arrives,
prompting great excitement on the new planet - who is on board? friends and loved ones? important
supplies and news from earth? but also many questions - will the new people bring the problems of earth
with them? will the mistakes that destroyed earth be repeated? will the arrival of a new, would-be leader,
rock the fragile and precarious equilibrium of the fresh, unified and courageous new world? and, most
importantly of all, how do is a new and better world created?

additional notes: its airing on bbc one, and was created & written by ben richards, who created the
fixer on itv, and has also worked on spooks. i'll be giving it a go later tonight.

stick with it...
the first 2 episodes are slow, but according to some of the reviews it gets better from episode 3
onwards...

i sure hope so... because i literally feel asleep watching this.

sounds a lot like earth2 from a few years back...

that is one of the best american shows of the nineties. cancelled for being too smart, clever and
good. for american audience.

i'll check this out just for the similarities. hopefully it's good and if it is, there is more hope.
this time the corporate america isn't cancelling something for being good.

yep, unfortunately i can see this getting cancelled, damn it! it appeals to me. it just won't
appeal to the reality tv show morons. i can see the parallels to earth2 too.

let's hope not, we seriously have no decent sci-fi at the moment, lots of fantasy, but no hard science
fiction.

being on the bbc we will actually get to watch the entire series at least.
but then that series will only be 8 episodes long so it'll be over by the end of the month if
they're playing two a week.

i don't know. considering how much technology has come in the last 30 years, i think it could be feasible
that colonization could be going on by the time 2040. feasible, but unlikely. 🙂

on the subject of this show however, the fact it's set in 2040 is a cheat on the producers part, so
they wouldn't have to include any super advanced technology - since the first manned landing on mars
isn't scheduled to be until around 2030 (and will no doubt get delayed past that date) 2040 is a
ridiculous date to place the show in
