this is what makes americans seem stupid.
austria = small country in europe.
australia = one of the biggest countries in the world.

he wrote australia, not austria.

australia isn't a continent... it's a country
the continent is called australasia and includes new zealand new guinea and some other south pacific
islands

for some reason people like to call the wholoe area australia but i don't think the other countries

why should australia be considered a continent and greenland an island?
the answer is not clear-cut, but there are rational reasons behind it.

the characteristics of continents are these:

areas of geologically stable continental crust, or cratons, tectonically independent from other
continents
biological distinctiveness, with unique animal and plant life
cultural uniqueness
local belief in separate continental status

obviously, the first two are scientific, and the second two are more subjective.

compare australia and greenland, the largest island:

australia

greenland

tectonic independence from other continents

yes

no

unique flora and fauna

yes

no

unique cultures

yes

no

local opinion

mixed

island

to elaborate:

australia is separated from all other continents by young oceanic crust. greenland is
geologically part of north america.
australia has highly distinct plants and animals. greenland's are largely shared with northern
north america.
australia is considerably larger than greenland. if separation is key, then antarctica should
also be considered an island (making australia second largest).
australia has unique, ancient cultures. greenland's arctic cultures, while unique, are part of
larger north american arctic culture.
everyone agrees that everything smaller than australia is an island. australians themselves are
divided, and often claim that australia is both the world's largest island and the world's smallest
continent.

who mentioned greenland? ask someone from indonesia or new guinea if they're from australia...

australiasia or oceania is what most people from the actual region call it. also it is perfectly
acceptable to call it so, some geographers disagree whereas some take into account that mainland
australia and the islands directly attached to the shelf (tasmania, rott ness, christmas etc) are
all part of the one country and under the control of the australian government... the other
countries that make up the continent have their own governments

i'd be interested in you telling me which continent indonesia, new guinea and new zealand are part
of and why they must adopt the name of another country just for the sake of some geographers wanting
the boundaries nice and neat...

i don't think this view is worthy of a 'lol', it's a perfectly accepted view... i suppose europe
asia and africa are all one continent if you go by your strict definition, the biggest country being
china, let's just call the whole region china...

wilfred is still the same actor (jason gann) an australian actor and film writer.he played the
role as the eponymous dog in the australian comedy series wilfred, and plays wilfred in the us series
of the same name.

after reading all those negative comments "[childs crying voice] mweeeehhh... original was better",
i almost missed this hilarious show.
for gods sake find me one person who like second incarnation of anything better. change an actor in
a show due some internal consequences, and you get flooded with "oh the old actor was so much
better" whining, now the whole show is ruined. 🙂 [rolls eyes]

thankfully i remembered that people like the things they know, and any substitute is unacceptable,
so i gave a show a try... and i'm so glad i did! it took me some time to get used to the idea, but
dialogs are laugh out loud funny. i'm only at ep7... btw... what happened to ep6?

just to help you guys out, here's a link to two season of australian version torrent (still alive).
so far i liked us version better, but you'll be the judge . it's similar, however i'm having hard
time understanding some of the very heavy australian accent, and i'm yet to find subtitles for it.
if you find subs for that australian version, please link it here.
