watch "the syndicate" and be done with it. this is a us remake of
that miniseries.
thx for nuttin, u r at great help... m0r0n
here's the help:
the us insist on doing their own versions of excellent british television shows, and 99.99% of the
time they're nowhere near as good. maybe once in a million they're a little better.
gotta agree with exitao. very rarely are the remakes any good. shameless was ok (acceptable) but shows
like "the office" were horrible. in australia we have a few shows like this based on normal people winning
money and the drama that follows. i'll wait for some (if any) hype to build around this before watching.
always happy to be surprised though ๐
as for the name calling snusenx. please go back to trolling in a chat room with other 12 year olds. i like
the fact that this sort of thing doesn't really happen here on eztv and would like to see it stay that way if
possible. the comment that tinpusher posted is pretty much spot on accurate (as far as i can surmise) so
lhtg and quit the pettiness please.
thanks eztv and others, keep up the good work. it's appreciated by those that know better ๐

i agree that most "uk to us converted" series are bad, or not as good as the uk ones, but your
examples are actually the wrong shows.
shameless is a great show, especially william h. macy makes it something i need to watch. i actually
prefer the us version, because uk scum is always so annoying. also, the office went it's own way, and
had some great seasons. true, the milked it a season or 2 to many, but it's still a great comedy.
i would rather you used "kath & kim", or "the inbetweeners" as an example. those shows where much
worse than the aus/uk counterpart, and the actually bombed.
and an australian trying to tell people to behave, really???
you're hugely overstating it
shameless is excellent, queer as folk was excellent. by your logic there are around 19998 bad shows.
i understand that you weren't literal, but this circlejerk around british versions needs to stop. this is 2013,
in the case you missed last few years of tv, here's a summary for you: absolute majority of new british
shows outright suck (and for the very same reason!) and don't live past season one.
a lot of remade shows were bad in the first place (like skins), people just have nostalgia glasses about
those.
man, you gotta give it to the people from the uk. look fellas, i watch a hell of a lot of britcoms
and other shows from the uk. lets get something straight...
half of those uk shows are garbage. beyond that, for us "less intelligent" people from across the
pond, shows like shameless or the office uk are hard to watch because, while you claim to be
speaking "proper english" you tend to mangle and mumble and use so much regional slang, it's almost
impossible to enjoy without subtitles.
shameless was a million times better with william h macy, get over yourselves and actually watch it,
because clearly you haven't, if you liked the original, only personal bias could allow you to make
that statement.
the office uk was funny, it really was, for a good 5 episodes. the us version, while being loosely
based on the original, went off in it's own direction, and fir at least 4 seasons, it was one of the
funniest shows on tv. don't take my word for it, go ask rickey gervais, he'll tell you the exact
same thing.
it's rediculous to be having this discussion in 2013 with the current shows that air, either you are
shooting up smack in the drags of london instead of watching your precious uk shows, or you are
falling for that "brit is better" bs, which is exactly that bs.
granted, the ratio of crappy shows to good shows proves the uk beats out the us there, the us
networks pump out so much garbage it's ridiculous.
but honestly, what shows can you point to now? freaking sherlock? god damn doctor who? get over
it, in fact, just stop posting your useless opinions. twits.
i'll even go so far as to say the u.s. version of being human is better.
the other problem with u.k. shows is that the cast leaves. it's also much easier to make your show
look better when your season consists of 8 or less episodes. lets see how well they would do with
12-24 ;p
imo, there are good shows and crap shows regardless of country,
and yes many remakes seem to be not as good as the originals.
i've enjoyed reading the comments so far. please keep in mind,
no member bashing or country bashing.
with rare exceptions, pilots are generally "shaky". lucky 7 has 6+ leads and all their plot lines had to be
established, which, in 43 minutes, isn't easy. lucky 7 has great potential - one of the cast was on the uk
series, the executive producer was the showrunner on er and there are some big name directors coming
up on future episodes.
remember the pilot for the big bang theory? it was terrible! the good wife? dull as dirt. there are tonnes
of examples of good shows that started out a bit shaky. i'm going to give lucky 7 another try. the cast are
likable and the characters are relatable. we don't work in a gas station, but we play the lotto where i work
too. it's refreshing to find a drama that doesn't start every episode with a murder. and who doesn't love a
little vicarious wish fulfillment?
i'll even go so far as to say the u.s. version of being human is better.

absolutely true!
it's much easier to crank out 6 episodes that are great, then doing the same thing with 24 episodes. the
uk office was awesome, but it's only 12 episodes plus 2 christmas specials. that's it! you can't compare
that to the us version, that had over 200 (!) episodes. it's a whole different ballgame!
that being said, i like the fact that the uk series/seasons leave lots of room for other series. new series
start all the time, instead of once in september. if a series sucks, it only lasts 6 episodes before it's gone,
and a new one starts.
