a new sf show, it's about time! far too few out there at the moment.
too bad people are already hyping it by expecting a new "fringe". yeah, i know it's from "the fringe guy",
but that doesn't mean it's going to be just as good. people who make hits can also make bombs and no
"genius" is without fail. so instead of expecting a show as good as fringe because some guy worked on
both, i'll just watch it and judge for myself.
after viewing a preview clip on youtube i was expecting this to be shit.
now that i've watched the pilot episode...i'm pleasantly surprised.
looking forward to the second episode... tomorrow night.
that was surprisingly unexpected. futuristic cop drama with robots. its definably not new but
surprisingly good nonetheless. looking forward to the next one. if the story continues to have
legs this could actually work quite well.
what puzzles and concerns me is that the next two episodes are scheduled to be:
(hu-105) skin
(hu-106) are you receiving?
...meaning the 5th and 6th in production order. it's often not a good sign and can mean the network
has stepped in and shuffled things around to "jazz it up". it will be "ok" if the eps work stand
alone and don't mess up the storyline, but if that's the case it may not have a great "arc"
connecting the episodes, which is something i look for more and more. anyway - all still to be seen,
just take note that's the ep numbering if those two play following (hu-101) pilot as scheduled.
sometimes they don't shoot in order, depends on the cast list availability for those episodes. it
maybe the guest stars for those 2 episodes were stuck on other productions at the dates originally
planned for shooting eps 3&4, so they shot around them and done a couple of other episodes instead.
it's not unheard of especially if they are running to a tight deadline.
production number does not always equal episode number.
saying that i liked the pilot. had a nice bladerunner / robocop's "detroit" feel to it.
is it just me or the throw away line by one of the mx's when asked where his human partner was
"another 4 got over the wall" (or something like that) is so out of left field that it will have to
slot in to the story ark during this season...
imho....
i thought the show was....terrible!!
the only redeeming spot might be some of the special effects graphics, though they weren't anything
spectacular.
the show is staged in 2048...just 35 years from now:
in 35 years, do think all the clothing will look just like what we wear today? sure there will be
some changes in fashion!
the cars are not even mildly futuristic. ya think cars from today will be popular in the year 2048 :-)
the dsr robot, dorian, is laughable. a robot with perfect communication skills, human like skin,
and human agility. a complete optimist likely wouldn't see all this even in early the next century!!
yet, if you like implausible sci-fi...this is a show for you.
otoh, i like some implausible fantasy shows such as grim....
