when i was a kid i saw a season of dr. who while visiting cousins who'd got it on tape. it struck me
as kind of goofy fantasy only pretending to be sf, so i've deliberately ignored it ever since. the
latest incarnation has gotten so much good press that i thought i should give the franchise another
try. is it a good idea for me to watch this doc, or would that spoil too much?

ps: i don't know which season i watched except that the dr. wore a tan jacket over a tennis sweater.
i recognized the actor from other bbc shows i'd seen on pbs, but didn't know him by name.

pps: i think he wore a celery boutonniere (?!), but it was long ago so that may be my memory playing
tricks.

that would have been the 5th doctor. the reboot series started on the 9th. they put references from
the classic series here and there, but they're mostly independent.
