that's a solid man-on-man drama [if that is your preference in entertainment]

bashing based on sexual orientation

i'd agree that there's no place for that, and i'm definitely going to dl & watch, but i am leery
because of this:
"important to the 'looking' mix is the progressive, unpredictable, sexually open culture of the bay
area"

girls, and based on the description perhaps this, is a niche product that displays how the u.s.
entertainment industry can do an excellent job of representing the views on one side of a deeply
divided country. it can also do a mediocre job of trying to be neutral and not represent those
views, and with one or two rare exceptions that's about it for range. (i think the canadians do
better btw- perhaps because there's less mutual distrust and antipathy there. ?)

i'd be much more intrigued and i think the show would have more potential if, without using the
local culture just as a foil, it were set in sioux city, or casper, or allentown, or great falls, or
gary, etc.

san francisco is more than a foil; trust me, it is the very epicenter of teh ghey. this show is going to be a
sausage-fest.

oh, i don't disagree there, but if it's set in an idealized version of san francisco then it seems to me
that the show will likely end up being merely a gay male version of sex and the city. (jonathan
archer = samantha jones?) even setting it in provincetown would have been more intriguing
because you could contrast the townies with the seasonal visitors.

very much just sex in the city with gay dudes... same audience, but better!

it's so not "sex and the city with dudes", it hurts. it's three somewhat related but ultimately different
stories as opposed to four stereotypes that tackle sitcom-level setups with little to no real continuity above
the episode, which satc is.

and can we please stop equating everybody who happens to enjoy casual sex to "samantha".

oh, and the show itself is great.
