i saw some previews and i really don't feel like watching it... sure as hell it's not "archer". 🙂
(although new season of "archer" wasn't as good as i would like.)
i couldn't sit through the entire first episode, so i am also curious on your take on ep. 2 boone. at this
point, unless i hear rave reviews saying this episode turned it around, i'll stick to bob's burgers and
archer for my animation fix.
i downloaded it last week to have something to watch and, while i disliked it at first i
found a few redeeming qualities after the first two episodes:
1 - chozen, the main character, is exactly what you'd expect (gay, fat, ex-con, white and wanna-be
black rapper) but that's not important to the story, sort of like the bifur from the hobbit (the
dwarf with an axe in his head) - it's just who he is and the story isn't about that. to be honest
though, the better part of the humor from it does come from this, mostly the gay ex-con parts.
oh, i forgot, he can actually rap (with humorous lyrics) so he's not a self-delusional wannabe, he
actually does have talent.
2 - the series has a central theme and a driving story line - he wants to return to his "stardom"
and get revenge on the guy who threw him in jail. that might not seem big but it's an actual, honest
to god, thread that drives the story forward and there aren't that many 30-minute shows out there
(that i know of) that have it.
3 - about the other characters, they seem to "exist" and are not there to act as foils for chozen's
antics - his posse are normal guys (tending towards losers) but they have their own goals and don't
agree with him on everything but do it since the also miss the spotlight, his sister (also
relatively normal) loves her brother and puts up with him for some reason.
i'll be following it for now - it's very far from being archer or bob's burgers funny but it's not
as bad as i expected.
holy crap! this one was way funnier than the first episode.
can't believe it put off watching it until last night. now i'm
off to dl the rest of the season :d
