oh god! i was totally right, it's just a big rip off of the 80's film "firestarter"..
what's up with j.j.abrams? he usually comes up with totally original shows,
(fringe for example), but he's blatently ripped this from the above mentioned
film, absolutely shocking.
i'm just waiting for the prison guy to get his powers now, probably activated
through some bad event that will activate them, and this will be firestarter
95%.
if abrams released this as a book, he'd probably get sued for plagiarism, its
practically near identical.
lol- it looks like we're all still seeing different past shows in this: touch, heroes (my opinion) &
firestarter (decanos78). i can't speak to the last one because i never saw it. i see the similarity
to touch, but that show really pissed me off because of the new age woo it sprang from, as opposed
to the now standard x-men 'mutant' formula of heroes, alphas, tomorrow people, etc.
it looks like there is a consensus that this show is pretty lame so far. i'll give it a couple more
watches, but so far it's pretty blah.
i see where you are coming from on this.... but, as with music, there are only so many notes that
can be struck without completely remaking the media...
having said that, this *may* become a show for the wife and i. it's not terrible, like most of the
crap coming out, and, being it's second episode, there is room to improve on the show and combat
sequences.
