again, scene people. whoever/wherever you are. dated episodes, not seasonal. oliver's got a 2 year
contract with option. it'll air, with intermittent breaks, just like real time.

aren't episode numbers more logical for weekly shows?

shows that air all year round use the date format. (my observation)
these shows are typically news, politics, current events, film/tv entertainment.
shows that air one (maybe two) season(s) a year use the sxxexx format.

examples...

some shows that air daily and use the date format:
the colbert report, the daily show, letterman, conan, seth meyers, kimmel, etc.

some shows that air weekly and use the date format:
real time with bill maher, 60 minutes, 20/20, the soup,

imo this show fits historical precedence set by the scene, and should use the date format.
i don't recall any other daily or weekly show that airs all year round that uses the sxxexx format.

it does not say daily shows "only".
it says daily "or ohther" dated shows.

oh right, i forgot about maher and the soup. i guess if the seasonal lines blur a date format would
be more appropriate indeed.

also, dates just make more sense for active commentary that is relevant to when it aired. they aren't
shows people will overtly be "going back to" or "catching up on" two years from now.
