so, when we return to season 4 we're treated to many characters being gone or barely there.
peter and jared are, of course, still present (no show without them) and running the firm that's since
gone a bit amok.
carmen is gone, she just moved away.
pindar is off helping someone, i think it was a family member? (kumail recently tweeted that he's left
the show.)
stanton is disbarred after the season 3 ending where rachel (forever-hot heather locklear) stole money
from the firm, and is working in a foreign motors garage.
carp has jumped ship to another law firm, though he was featured as f&b's opposing council in the first
ep.
what the hell happened to this show?! why did everyone split?! i know that networks tinker with shows
to freshen things up (like bringing in the smokin' hot heather locklear last season) but the gap between
last season and this one nearly cleaned the whole house out. oh, they kept the gruff lawyer who jared
was hooking up with. she's mostly comic relief, and only barely so.
they brought on some "quirky" investigator-type to essentially take the place of the carmen and pindar
characters. he's a poor hybrid of the two lost characters, i hope they better develop him or cut him
loose.
overall, the episode felt enough like a return of f&b but without the rest of the supporting cast it's more
of a skeleton of what made season 1 of the series fun and different. i liked it better when they were the
small guys helping out everyday people. it made more sense to have them pulling stunts because they
had to to trick the big-wig lawyers. since joining infeld-daniels they boys have gotten increasingly big-
wig themselves which makes it harder to believe when they pull something wacky (the opener for this
season was pretty damned funny, though, especially if you get the joke.) i'll keep watching the series,
but i won't be surprised if this is the last season.
