i'm not sure what dialogue is missing. the hdtv version plays faster than the
dsr one.
if you sync both to the same point of play the hdtv version will within a few
seconds be ahead of the dsr version. this might explain the shorter running time.

i found the same thing when comparing the extended version of the season 1
finale to the hdtv version - the actual added material was only a few minutes
but because the two files were encoded at different bitrates they often moved
out of sync when there were no differences and both files had the same frame rate.
i wouldn't have thought the bit rates of the encoded files would have made a
difference as they both play at the same rate.
what could play a role is the frame rate of the original broadcast.
if abc broadcasts at a different frame rate than abc family then a different
running time will be a result - just like it would for a uk pal broadcast of the
same material.
but what do i know...i could just be oozing this out a southern orifice.
