and i was just about to start watching this. seems pointless now. probably gonna get canceled after the third season now. it really is the $6million question... why'd he leave? |

first off this was one of the few shows the whole family could agree on and sit in the same room to watch. now for the rant.....i am so tired of stars get so self important they think the world revolves around them. i want a bigger trailer, i want a personal trainer, i want , i want, i want. as if they dont get paid enough for what they do. what about there responsability to the fans. the "little people" who watch the shows to forget about what happened to them during the day. i still read my share of books, but i am almost to the point of turning off the tube completely. to all the stars out there, remember you wouldn't be a star if it wasn't for us. |

mandy is the sort of actor that i like to follow, princess bride, dead like me, kind of quirky characters, so thats the reason i watched criminal minds. now that he's gone... who knows, time will tell. as for a new person, i'd like to nominate: jeffrey d. sams. no particular reason, just think he'd fit. |

there has to be a good reason for him just up and leave like that. i have met him a couple of times and he always seems level headed and down to earth compared to a lot of stars. we will soon find out since nothing like this is kept in the dark for very long. it is a shame for the show since he was a great character, however, it all depends on who they cast for his replacement.... |

he's a male diva... he's done it before when he left chicago hope stating family reasons. during dead like me he seemed to be only doing a half-hearted acting job like he had nothing better to do. good riddance. |

before people start ranting about "responsibility to the fans", there is no such thing! he has a job and if he feels he's not appreciated or he doesn't like it anymore, his responsibility is to himself! if you ever felt miserable in your job because you don't get the opportunities promised to you, because you don't get the raise you were epxecting, even if you were already paid enough to live well, do you think "mmm... i think i'm going to stay miserable, after all i have a responsibility to my coworkers and clients"? please! the "fans" should take their shows as they are. if you're such a "fan" of a show or a person that you won't like the show without them, stop watching or follow what they do afterwards! and i just love it when people accuse actors to be divas and then give us the self important crap, "he wouldn't be a star if it wasn't for us"?! lmao! maybe he's not interested in being a "star", maybe he just wants to be an actor, maybe he'd be happier if people could just watch shows or movies or plays and not play the star system. i think it was bound to happen. the show has become crap. they have taken a u- turn in season 2 and stepped into every pitfall they avoided in season 1. the characters have become the focus point of the show, not the criminals, and yet they are becoming caricatures of themselves, the storylines are clich |

i will miss patinkin's character on the show. but i guess if i was forced to pick a substitute, my first thought is david morse. |

patinkin, if indeed doesnt come back will be a great loss to the show. i thought he was brilliantly cast and brought an emotional depth to the character. i reckon bruce davison would be an excellent choice. he's had many cameos in tv shows such as battlestar, csi miami, numb3rs and managed to play a solid role. he also seems like the intellectual type. age is about right. he'd probably wouldn't cost the earth either. his filmography: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001117/  |

:) i too really enjoy this show, and feel his character is the central one. hopefully they can cast someone who is as strong so the show does not tank as it may well do! this was one of the best shows on last season. maybe they can bring him back! my 2 cents!

i seem to recall reading before that mr patinkin pulled a prima dona act in a theatre production he was working on a few years ago. he seems to have a shakespearian sense of the dramatic. perhaps he might like to take a vacation for a year or two and enjoy the company of his biggest fan - himself. in the meantime, there are a number of strong lead actors out there who could fill the role. personally, i will keep watching the show without him. i think the producers should advertise broadly that mr patinkin has left them in the lurch, make minimal mention in the show of where gideon has gone - reassigned, suffered a meltdown (the character always did have phsych issues) kidnapped and killed - whatever, and then just go ahead. i don't think it's fair to everyone else working on the show to have to suffer because of one difficult person. |

personally i think all the actors in the show were of equal importance. i really don't want this show to be cancelled...it's one of my favorites. i heard a rumor that geena davis might be mandy's replacement but after some quick research, it's just that...a rumor. geena is not being considered according to executive producer ed bernero |
