Create a show for upload...capping?

how do people create files to upload as torrents?

do they burn them onto a dvd recorder and then convert then onto their pc? i
do not have enough upload to be able to create a good enough start point (uk
uploads are terrible) but would consider doing it for some shows that are out
in the uk first..........but do not know how i would go about it.

i presume it is done this way thus when converting to avi's the sound
sometimes gets out of sync....

before someone says there is a link on this already, i could not find one and
the search option does not seem to be working or not working with ie7.

so any info or links to how do sites would be of interest.

the easies way i think its to get a video card for computer with cable inputs in
it
ati makes pretty good ones. then you hook up the cable to your computer get a
software to record the tv on your computer like windvr. then you save the
output.then you can cut out the commercials with your favorite video editing
software convert to format you want and there you go. there is bunch of other
ways to do that but thats one of them that pretty easy. hope that helps.
