bill maher is spot on as always, can't even remember the last time i didnt agree
with him on an issue. mos def was blabbering alot but nothing but illogical
bullshit arguments and standpoints came out of it.

maher is pretty far from spot on - the man clearly needs to reassess the actual
threat posed by islamic terrorism, for example. we need to stop being hysterical
about this, and maher ain't helping.
i quite agree about mos def though - it seemed like he was about to touch on
something important just before he got all 9/11-was-a-conspiracy-by-whitey. it
was all downhill from there.
the opening monologue and the uncommonly funny "new rules" was all that made
this episode worth watching imo

cornel west was great, but mos def was rehashing a bit too many tired 'whitey's
oppressing the black man' arguments. good episode, not great.

oh don't get me wrong, i liked mos def apart from that conspiratorial stuff -
that was what i was getting at. he was on a rant about how he didn't fear some
bogeyman in a cave, but rather that as a black man he had real reason to fear
the police, and that he knew danger being from the projects and all - i believe
these are true observations worth hearing about for a whitey like me, and i
thought mos def put them across in an intelligent manner.

he lost me with the tinfoily stuff about 9/11 and the apollo program. claiming
belief in wacky conspiratorial theories will lower any person's esteem in my
eyes, and fast.

bill maher was very good as always but mos def really did get himself into a lot
of bullshit he clearly does not fully understand. he always seemed to start with
something intelligent and then progressively degraded into relating everything
to being black in the us.....and this "we didn't go to the moon" bollocks.

the professor was better (but also somewhat rambling) but the debate really
suffered from the missing third participant.

as always, thanks for upping this show, eztv
