Can someone explain to me the reason why nearly all download torrents on EZTV are MeGusta? I have downloaded
HandBrake to convert them but it is taking an awful long time

Look on other sites, there's most likely releases elsewhere. But the reason is where
these files are released they're e direct download sites and now a lot of the files are
being posted with security measures to stop bots just taking and reposting files
publicly to protect the uploaders files.

What are you converting them to? A few years back, I decided that storage space was so inexpensive that I no longer bother with software encoding, just use a nvidia video card for nvenc hardware encoding in avidemux with python scripts to do batch jobs. It needs a little higher bitrate for same quality, but is so much faster and as already stated, I don't care if the files are ~15% larger. Throw the video(s) in the work folder, click the batch file, and Bob's yer uncle.

Here's a very basic batch file, which doesn't rename or delete the originals but could get you started.
If you put 3 files in the work folder, for example Mud.Pie.S01E01.mkv, Mud.Pie.S01.E04.mkv, and No.Pie.S42.E08.mkv, then it will process them all in alphabetical order. Note that you need to make a python script telling Avidemux what to do, named settings.py in the same folder. Adjust path and more as needed, it's just an example, which will work but could be tweaked more to your needs.

As far as the scripts go, you can just load a video in avidemux, set the settings, save the script, then use a text editor to remove all references to specific filenames, and variables you don't want altered can be removed as well.

set avidemux="C:\Program Files\Avidemux 2.8 - 64 bits\avidemux.exe"
: %%~nf returns the filename without the extension
for %%f in (*.avi *.mts *.mkv) do (
%avidemux% --load "%%f" --run settings.py --save "%%~nf.mp4" --quit
)

To clarify on the above, you only need to make a settings.py script once, to process every video file with the same encoding and other settings applied to all of them using the batch file. It's easier to understand once you are actually doing it.

I does, your settings are probably not set right to read the file. Use the MX player.

Forgot to post this earlier, but it's definitely something on your end.

I don't understand the need to convert them. But then, I use Plex on a Win11 desktop as server, playing to a Google
TV Streamer with a recent LG OLED TV. I can play HEVC, AV1, 4K, whatever without any hesitation. Only thing I did
have to convert were some HFR stuff. It would play, but would have a slight issue at the beginning of playback I think
just due to the TV switching framerate.

When I was using TGX I could always confirm if a "1080p HEVC x265-MeGusta" included subtitles. Just had to look at the
information page and it said they were or were not there.

Recently I've noticed a lot of the "1080p HEVC x265-MeGusta" files don't include subs. I did notice previously the MeGusta-720p
files didn't include subs and didn't download them. Fortunately if a Fenix-720p file is available, it shows in EZTV info page as
having subs.

Am I missing something in the information page that lets me know about subs for the "1080p HEVC x265-MeGusta" files.

I have a little trouble hearing sometimes and will hit rewind, turn on subs and see what was said.

I use Kodi on my TV to view the "1080p HEVC x265-MeGusta" files with no issues.

Thanks.

Forgot to add. The small "1080p HEVC x265-MeGusta" file sizes are good quality for the TV I watch them on.
