the show is about a an ancient ship, named destiny, launched unmanned millions of years ago in order to explore the
universe in hopes that one day the ancients would gate to the ship and take control. but that didnt happen, and now sgc
military and scientists escaped lucian alliance attack by gating to destiny with no means of gating back home. now the
new crew are forced to voyage through galaxies and discover the ship's many mysteries as well as battle its alien
invaders. ------- all this is already more exciting than 4 years of bsg and 6 years of lost.

in the atlantis or sg-1 two parters i was always interested to see how they were going to get out of
whatever mess they were in. with sgu i just keep hoping they don't. seriously even when they had a
space battle it still managed to have zero dramatic tension. it's humourless, dull, and there's
maybe one character who's remotely likeable.

don't drink and post --- we had the 6 week hiatus that every other show had because of the retarded
way the us does tv - but they are definitely still in first season. a quick look at the filename
suggests that.
your point about the show going nowhere is valid - however i think something is building up for sure.

the mark of a true science fiction fan is the ability to be open minded and explore the possibilities so let
me offer the following advice. to anyone who keeps commenting that nothing happens in sgu please
try the following ; turn off your television and stare at the screen for 45 mins. this is actually what
nothing happens looks like. for anyone complaining that it's not the same as sg1 or atlantis ; stop
watching it and watch either cable re-runs or the dvd boxsets of those shows instead. there are no
truly new ideas only new takes on existing themes and that can be backed up by reading any of the
truly great science fiction writers since the 1920's. what makes something interesting is any
writer/producer/directors take on one of those themes. if you're not smart enough to know that it's the
subtle differences that count then you may just as well say that star wars, star trek, battlestar
galactica, stargate, babylon 5, andromeda et al are all exactly the same because they have
spaceships in them. i for one am enjoying seeing where the journey leads us just as i enjoyed various
aspects of all the other shows in the genre. the alternative is to watch reality tv or the x-factor. it's
your choice.

when i first heard about this show i was really excited - it sounded original and like it had huge
potential. the first half of the series was very dull and i was getting so bored with every episode
seeming to include blair witch-style live "kino". it also had too much focus on trying to make the
characters and their interactions "real" to the point they sacrificed the exploration of the ship or
new planets.

after the mid-season break it definitely improved and i find myself looking forward to it now. bsg
it definitely isn't. but it is the best sci-fi show on tv and that is the main reason i am watching
it still.

they just arrived in the new galaxie and opend a stargate...
so maybe the ending has something with this planet they now want to visit but that will be clear next
week i think.

the reason i think this serie is so polupair is because there is less sci-fi in it then in the sg-1
and atlatis.
where you would meet the enemy right in s01e01 we now only know that the aliens here are after
the ship and that they are blue insteed of grey,fishy or just humanlike :d.

anyway they are up to something( i agree on that) for this seaon finally because we have no idea what
actually is going on and we have like 3 episodes to go right?

can't wait for next week episode but i am not the only one am i?

nope, shows didn't change, still slow and boring and having very long scenes where we are suppose to
care about the losers in it without setting up some reason to care but plenty to not care.
and loooong scenes where the writers didn't even show up so they just play a song from their ipod
and have the characters move about a bit being losers.

(i think that when i watch a few more episodes i'm ready to start watching grey's anatomy or
something and experience it as a relief.)

no, the point was "here we go again, ssdd do we go through and possibly bring back some
other bug/disease or get eaten by a plant" no hope of getting home, why do we bother? oh well, we
have 10 hours . . . and the planet they got the bug from was in the new galaxy anyway, from the
opening scene they were already there (stars going by , not blackness, outside the ship)

and while inside this box, i may as well say, i really wished the first 5 minutes where real,
fucking hallucinations! ☹️

this episode [s01e17] has started spoiling "stargate universe" for me ...

i was looking forward to the release of episode 17 but after viewing it, it looks more like it was written
[in part] by someone who has never actually seen an episode of stargate universe but was told parts
of the story from a 4th party after sniffing a bottle or three of fake chinese superglue [or was written by
the writer of the episode where they encountered the time loop]. some of the "ideas" in this episode
belong in "future" episodes, not this one.

what happened to the journey between our galaxy and the next ? what happened to the arrival
sequence at the new galaxy ? what happened to the episode where they encounter their first working
stargate ? and what happened to the first off-ship mission after being in space for that length of time ?

even the newby astronomers amongst the viewers should know that it would take a few months of semi
boredom to travel between galaxys using a theoretical ftl drive.

surely, parts of the journey and the arrival of the "destiny" and it's human crew into a brand new
[never before seen by human eyes] galaxy would warrant an episode or two ... there is after all a
whole ship to be explored / mapped / discovered ... not to forget all the new toys that are obviously
stashed away in the undiscovered compartments of the ship. items that they will no-doubt "need" to
utilise in thier encounters in the new galaxy.

the "flow" of this series has been interupted in my mind after viewing episode 17, much like it was
when they aired the episode with the time loop...

any more of this obviously badly written / produced / directed episodes and they will probably lose me
as a viewer / fan / advocate. it is after all down to them [the writers, directors and producers] to
ensure that the flow of the story is maintained.

i wonder why the writers / directors / producers dont care about these obvious things ... maybe there
is a member of thier "crew" who is out to destroy this series. maybe thier all using high grade coke
from columbia and have misunderstood the concept of a "series". maybe they just enjoy throwing in a
little too much confusion in thier work...

i cant find fault in the actors tho ... they did thier best with this script ...

oh well, i hope episode 18 reveals episode 17 to have been "just a dream" of an as yet unseen crew
member, after he [or she] drank a few too many cups of home made alchohol [or something similar]...
otherwise i will have to re-think my viewing preferences.

i've watched this episode 3 times and the only point i can see is that this episode was badly thought
out / written and that the producers dont seem to mind losing viewers / ratings etc. [too self-destuctive
if you ask me].

what do you think ?

why is everyone bashing the 'time loop' episode? it was one of the few episodes that had a more
typical stargate sg-1 problem in it, and was one of my favorite episodes this season.

on top of that, it had more action/shi-fi/stargate related material, something half the people in
this thread is bashing for not having.

it would seem some people are never happy.

sg u had a time loop episode?

i honestly cannot remember one (and time loop/alternate reality/time travel stories are my favourite
) it must not have been very remember-able
