this 27minute 720p hd episode played well through my asus o!play player (and separate linux system
with nvidia gt520 hardware video decoding), both audio and video, contrary to another comment made
here, everything was in sync, and the show downloaded at about 2.0mb/sec. 27 minutes is a very
short intro to a plot, with 30 seconds of intro credits and 3+ minutes of exit credits, the actual
show is about 23 minutes.
i felt show quality was about on par with and reminiscent of battle star galactica. to put this
into perspective, their site says this episode took 1 year to create, and my production comparison
with battle star galactica where over 13 episodes/stories all had to be produced in the same amount
of time. keeping costs (resource usage) down takes additional time, and i'm glad product quality
wasn't sacrificed in the process. this was a $15,000 production, one i'll be donating to.
the storyline dialog matches my real world experience with professionals solving problems (as
opposed to comparing this product to a movie connoisseur's appetite for frenetic on screen action,
and epiphany delivering dialog, where bullet wounds are described as "flesh wounds" and then
ignored). in the context of what the character might be experiencing (coming out of what might be
thought of as a disorienting comma, or long term sleep), i thought the storyline was well done, believable, and correlates well with space technology i've seen at nasa (as a visitor).
it's also interesting to me that "l5" matches the name of a 1975 proposal for space stations
orbiting earth, like the one encountered in this episode.
hard to believe that the film crew is highly educated as some1 else said earlier. that huge epic fail where
they show themself in the visor should had been avoided, regardless of budget.
there was one guy on the command and the "brainstorm" group which i thought were really terrible actors
otherwise it was fine.
storywise it started good but ended with a huge let down.
after looking at this for over a week i finally decided to download this and watch it, here is my
review :
the good
- the story line has the potential to be a hollywood blockbuster, a refreshing new scifi
- some of the cgi is excellent
- some of the sets are very well constructed
the bad
- sound is too soft for most of the movie
- over 1gb in size for a 27 minute show ... wtf ??
- remembering that this isnt hollywood the acting is still poor
- the cgi in some spots is so bad its hilarious, little jumping spacemen, too "cartoonish" in some spots
- only 27 minutes long, wayyyyyy to short finished on a odd spot, left me with ciotus interuptus
- no character building for the players
- this is a crowd funded show so the next episode could be months or years or never, i have always
said that these types of shows should at least have a couple of episodes before being released
- the story seems to jump around so that some bits seem to be missing
thanks for the effort but i will give this a miss in the future, or at least until there are many
more episodes available, but thanks for the effort anyway it is appreciated !!
just finished watching and it's not a bad effort...
some of the cgi is a bit less convincing than most - the space walk scene for instance.
as many posters have pointed out there are problems with the sound, specifically when actors are in eva
suits.
some of the acting is not completely brilliant, but this is a pilot and hopefully the actors will grow into their characters
the story is interesting and this pilot does make me wonder what the rest of the series will look like. i will
definitely watch the next episode - this does have potential and is, in fact, better than some pilots released
on network tv.
video - 7/10
audio - 5/10
the whole shebang - 6/10
ran seamlessly on gom player.
only available in 720? too bad my puter doesn't do 720. ☹️
i see that your computer is not able to play 720 video.
you're not alone. many people have that same experience with 720.
