from wiki:

the first episode received entirely negative reviews from critics.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] the
second episode was heavily criticised by tom phillips in the new statesman.[11] adam postans in the
mirror called it 'the worst sitcom ever'.[12]

what's going on with you brits? you used to be on top of the comedy game, but lately you're just producing
things that might as well come out of from between them buttcheeks. i mean, cuckoo, the spa, the mimic,
heading out, and now this piece of cr*p, really?!?

wasn't "the spa" the one with the old lady getting knocked off the rooftop? if so, that was actually a pretty funny ep, even
if it was was a rehash of the brittas empire. ๐Ÿ™‚

yeah, i know what you mean; there are a few good comedy shows out there from the uk but a lot seems
like crap. i will admit to a soft spot for the mimic which was as much drama and pathos as comedy, and
life's too short was bearable, and i quite enjoyed plebs and bluestone 42, and spy and fresh meat and
rev were good, and pretty much anything with or by charlie brooker is amazingly good, but the rest...
hmmm.

i think part of it is the fragmenting of the budgets and audiences now that we've gone digital and have 30+
channels as opposed to 5 (for example, a lot of comedy has been moved off bbc1 and 2 - the main
channels - and moved to bbc3 and 4 - the post apocalyptic wasteland, in terms of audience), and part of it
is what is getting commissioned.

seems like a lot of the good comedy is happening on these comedy game shows, such as qi, 8 out of 10
cats, never mind the buzzcocks, have i got news for you, and so on... well worth checking out, maybe
sign up for tvchaosuk dot com or similar.

or maybe what's being uploaded now is just a bad selection and we're not seeing the good stuff? any uk
residents care to comment?

she's a comedy black hole, sucking all the funny away. not that there was much, but still...

i did enjoy some of the comedies you mentioned (life's to short, fresh meat), and series like friday
night dinner and the inbetweeners. yet for every great comedy there seem to be 10 bad ones. it's like
throwing stuff at the wall, and they will see what sticks. it's starting to look more and more like the usa
over there.

now, i shouldn't be complaining. i'm from the netherlands, and comedies here are terrible. that why i
got into uk comedy.

thanks for the sites, but i get most of it from the pirate bay. i also would suggest thebox.bz, a site
that has almost everything they show on uk television.

what happened? the o-fuckin-lympics

the bbc spent so much money on it that they had nothing left for any good stuff. prob be the same
for another year or so. channel4, itv and the rest are concentrating more on drama and
factual/historical.

also we have so many good comedians that we have a myriad of panel shows that give us what we need
day after day ...

hignfy
buzzcocks
qi
8 out of 10 cats
mock the week
a league of their own
etc.

as for good comedy scripted, on now or in the last year:

watson & oliver
bluestone 42
derek
the revolution will be televised
episodes
chickens

what more do you want? we gave you so many good things and all* we get back is cagney and lacey and
50 versions of csi ... what next, csi:space station 1?
(oh, and if you nick my idea zuicker or bellisario, expect me to hire gibbs and reese to sort you
out ...)

*warning: does not include veep, the middle, modern family, tbbt, or wilfred - which all seem
reasonable enuff and get 8/10.
