this doesn't sound like a ridiculous pile of tripe at all. it's rubbish like this that will last for years meanwhile
decent shows are terminated well before their used by date.
wow, you're right scudsy.... the description is yawnworthy. to think they don't renew shows like
almost human... it had the cop element. the comical element, but wait... it was sci-fi... so
naturally, anything that's not a plain old boring drama doesn't stand a chance.
> to think they don't renew shows like
almost human...
well, almost human was kind of bad. expensive, beautiful, mercilessly pandering to cyberpunk lovers,
which i am, but just not thought out and lacking any substance or conflict. gits in an americanized buddy-
cop form, with long talks during drives.
if it was still late 90s, i would even like it, but tv writing made so much progress since then, almost human
just can't compete.
oh man, i'm still trying to get the smell off of my tv from this one. acting worse than a
middle-school rendition of "macbeth", with dialog just as awkward. phew!!
i know where you're coming from yasunori (with almost human), and i'll have to say i found the final
episode straw man incredibly bad and cringeworthy, but other episodes were amazing. the show had so
much potential and it was "different" (c'mon, you have to at least agree on that?).
whereas shows like this, man, i'm so tired of seeing medical/criminal dramas even those with comedic
elements to them.
i'll give this one a go... but i just don't see any "likeable" characters or cast members in it (yet).
i don't know if under the dome deserves so much negativity. yes, it's bad. the acting's bad. but, i do
like the cast/actors they've got, so i'm hanging in there to find out why the pink stars are falling!
lol
so, i actually watched it, rather than just making assumptions like most of you. this is very similar to
transporter: the series, which is another luc besson movie-turned-tv series.
unfortunately, like transporter: the series, this has a good premise with terrible acting. i'm going to keep
watching it, though, because t:ts was great eye-candy and good for something to watch to relax after a
hard day at work. it's not going to challenge your brain too much, which makes it perfect for that.
could not watch it more than 14 minutes... and it was a long 14 minutes! i haven't seen such bad
acting/writing in a long time. this is absolutely crap (pardon my french)! i should have believed all
the negative comments about this show... oh well, now i know they were not lying... ugh!
just from reading the description it sounds like a version of the french movie
franchise taxi. that alone will make me give it a try.
they made a french version of the movie taxi, starring queen latifah - wasn't that good. this show
has the same components of the movie as well, however the humor is all gone - and yet they class this
show as a comedy-drama.. don't know why american and british critics give these types of shows the
"comedy" attribute when there's only a joke or two throughout the whole episode. for that matter, csi,
lost or any other drama in the last 10 years should be categorised as a comedy.
conclusion.. it's another police / crime solving type show with a taxi driver dragging a cop around to
solve mysteries and from time to time the taxi driver gives some insight and/or exposition to move the
show along.
personally, i wasn't impressed with the first episode, i'll watch the second, but i doubt i'll invest my time
and energy in a show that'll probably be cancelled midway through the season.
edit: ps, if you want to watch a real (see hilarious) comedy-drama with crime solving within, go
download "psych" from the usa network. the show actually ended after 8 seasons (as opposed to
being cancelled).
