i hope these losers don't win this otherwise it will kill californication. i
use to like the chilli peppers but now i am boycotting them completely. their
just jealous because a google search brings up the show first and want to cash
in, they actually want all profits made by the show. how they can came a word
in use long before they used it i don't know.

desperate and baseless last grab for cash cos they know they on the outs. what a
bunch of cry baby losers.

wtf?

i used to quite like the chillis when i was a child and i never made the
connection, so how exactly is a fantastic tv show stealing the image of a washed
up bunch of whiney bitches?

to be honest i assumed that the title of the show had been inspired by the
record. i would have thought that 'californication' being in the public eye
would have been a plus for the band, especially with people looking for info
on google...

i would guess most people know of the name of the song, but since the word was
in use before they wrote the song or the album by the same title, i would say it
really doesn't make sense for them to ask for all the show's profits.

the thin line between a brand and pop culture.

for me, since today, they

sounds to me like the chillis should win this case. sho just blatantly stole
their name anyways.

isn't this just another case of hypocrasy?

the corporations are allowed to steal ip, but we all go to jail?

i've never liked the chili peppers. this is just sad. if i wrote a song, and
someone used the title for a show, or a movie, or whatever, i'd be honored by
the homage. however, if i were these guys, i would then be embarrassed to
realize it wasn't an homage, i just named a song after a word, that i didn't
invent, and someone else used it.

they have got to be one of the most overrated bands in music history. at the
very least, anthony keides is the most overrated vocalist of all time.

err they stole a showname and a character name? i sure hope the chilli's win this!

perhaps among us crap-rock fans they may have been known from the song title.
perhaps.
but worldwide fans of mulder would just beat the shit out of them in no time...

i used to like rhcp as a kid, yet i never made any connection between the show
and their song od supposedly same name until i read this news.

peppers can go f* themselves.

when i first heard about the show and its title i
immediately thought of rhcp,
that being said from what i understand californication was a common term/saying
long before rhcp used it, so from a legal stand point i dont think they have a
leg to stand on.

i had the same experience.
furthermore, if the peppers really were concerned about the use of the name
they should have sued right when the show was announced or first aired. now
that the show has proven to be a success did they sue, so it's obivously only
about the money.
